Pioneers of Medical Transcription Education

Yes!!  Med-Line School of Medical Transcription reported statistics for the past 3 years demonstrating that those graduates who wanted to work are indeed working!  MSMT has a growing national and regional medical transcription employers that are eager to hire our new graduates.  Currently our need for graduates far outweighs our enrollees and we expect this trend to continue.

Yes!!  With the significant advances in technology, you can get supervisor support without going into the office.  All our graduates work from their home offices.  Responsible MTs will love the benefit of a home office - this is truly where you want to work.  Stay-at-home parents can earn money and still attend school functions.

Certification is obtained by the MTCP through the AHDI (formerly AAMT) by special examination.  Med-Line School of Medical Transcription will issue a certificate of graduation when all of the competencies are achieved.  We will provide students with the information necessary to obtain certification.  Med-Line highly encourages student involvement with the AHDI and will be provided proof of enrollment status, upon request, to obtain a student rate for membership.  Students completing the MSMT competencies are eligible to take the RMT exam.

Continuing education will always be a part of your career as a medical transcriptionist in order to keep abreast of changes in technology, procedures, equipment, medications, et cetera.  Research, update your library periodically, and get involved with your peers.

Upon enrollment, you are assigned an experienced instructor.  Help is available by phone or email.  Med-Line's instructors are required to be certified medical transcriptionists, and licensed and approved by the State of Texas.  Your instructor will provide you with tips, resources, and advice to bring you to the highest degree of success.

Initial earnings can be in the range of $7.00 to $13.00 per hour.  As you grow with experience and competence, your earnings go up substantially.  2007 statistics:  Average annual pay for Houston MT population ranges up to $42,952.

YES!!  According to the United States Department of Labor, medical transcription is a strong career choice with expected growth to exceed more than 30% by 2012.

Statistically 24 months.  Realistically this is a professional career that can be regarded as equal to a 4-year college program.  The medical transcription industry is evolving, becoming more technical and more detailed.  While the studies are not difficult for the average person, it takes a while to master the competencies required of this career.  The benefits of working at home, the portability of the job, and the prestige of this career more than make up for the time and effort needed to achieve competency.  Programs that offer to train you in less time are very risky as far as placement on graduation.
