Med-Line School of Medical Transcription was founded by Maggie Denekas, CMT and Toni Carlton in 1990. Med-Line is an approved distance education career school since Fall 2000 and can be conducted anywhere in the U.S. Toni and Maggie have owned 2 successful medical transcription services, in addition to developing a comprehensive educational program. Maggie continues to be the supervising instructor for Med-Line, as well as CEO of EMR OmniScribe, LLC—a medical transcription service, while Toni is an executive for a large national service and is currently on Med-Line Schools’ advisory board. |

Maggie Armbruster, CMT, (fka Denekas) is the founder of Med-Line School and supervising instructor. She has enjoyed 18 years of instructorship and course development, in addition to ownership of 2 MTSOs – Med-Line Transcription Inc. from 1990 to 1998 and EMR OmniScribe LLC from 2000 to present. Although a native Texan, Maggie travels around a little bit and additionally has a home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where the offices of OmniScribe, a medical transcription service, reside at 1930 Mesquite Drive. Maggie graduated high school in Hudson, Massachusetts 1976, attended college in Maryland until 1980 when she moved to Texas and began a nursing career, which evolved from lab technician to clinical nursing, to research assistant, to medical transcription quite by accident in 1985. She has been a practicing medical transcriptionist since 1985, medical transcription service owner since 1990, and instructor/program director since 1990. Maggie has 4 grown children, 2 in LHC, 1 in Las Vegas, and 1 in Texas, and 3 grandchildren. Favorite activities include refurbishing a 1987 Four Winns power boat, riding her Honda motorcycle, hiking, shopping in California with friends, traveling with friends, going to Las Vegas for dancing and dining, networking, and attending MT events and meetings. Recent achievements include the completion of a huge project required for AHDI approval of the school (Med-Line). Materials were finally submitted after 6 months of self-study. In addition, she is currently working towards attaining her FAAMT credentials, anticipating completion after the ACE event in August. |

Sandy Shumaker, CMT is an instructor for Med-Line School. Sandy Shumaker began her career as a medical transcriptionist in 1972 after obtaining her AA degree in California and a BA in Colorado. She worked for several MDs in the Denver area before returning to California and starting work at City of Hope National Medical Center. At CoH, she served as Transcription/Correspondence Supervisor for 11 years before starting her own transcription service. Sandy earned her CMT in 1981 and has been recognized by Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) for 20 years of recertification. She has served in local chapters of AHDI and held elected positions as Symposium Chair, Education Chair, VP, Secretary and Treasurer. She is presently an active member of the Orange County Chapter of (AHDI). Her expertise is in acute care as well as clinical care, and MT consultant to several facilities in Southern California. At the present time, Sandy is working on several national committees for AHDI and is working toward her AHDI-F. |

Lisa Thompson is a licensed representative for Med-Line School of Medical Transcription. She has developed Med-Line’s technology program, oversees the school’s online communications including web design, and has the role of student/instructor liaison. She is employed as the Director of Operations for EMR OmniScribe, LLC, a medical transcription service based out of Lake Havasu City Arizona. Lisa studied architecture and interior design at Texas A&M University and Texas State University before moving to Lake Havasu in August 2004. After the birth of her daughter, Sandra, in February 2007, she took over as COO for OmniScribe. In addition, Lisa is currently studying healthcare management and coding by way of distance education. |
