Med-Line School of Medical Transcription was founded by Maggie Armbruster in 1990.  Med-Line is an approved distance education career school since 2000, and can be conducted anywhere in the U.S. 

Angela Allison, CMT

Instructor, CMT Study Group Facilitator, Internship Supervisor

Angela Allison, CMT, has been Director of Med-Line School of Medical Transcription since 2002, and is our Professional Development Instructor.  She is currently employed as transcription supervisor for EMR OmniScribe LLC, an MTSO in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.  Angela is a full-time practicing certified medical transcriptionist.  She has a 7-year-old son, Braden.

 

Angela graduated high school in Waller, Texas, in 1998, attended college in Danville, Virginia, and graduated from the Med-Line Program in 2002.

Diane Gilmore, CMT, AHDI-F    

Director of Education, Transcription Instructor

Diane Gilmore, CMT, AHDI-F has been a practicing medical transcriptionist for the past 12 years, with extensive adult training, writing, and speaking experience.  Diane is a member of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity, is a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) as well as Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI-F).  She has served on AHDI’s Member Advisory Committee and is the author of Medical Transcription Fundamentals, a medical transcription textbook for students entering the profession.  In addition, with over 20 years of prior experience in the legal field, she is the author of two legal student textbooks, Legal Office Document Processing and Legal Office Projects, (Cengate).

Maggie Armbruster, CMT, AHDI-F    

Program Director, Supervising Instructor

Maggie Armbruster, CMT, AHDI-F is the founder of Med-Line School of Medical Transcription, an AHDI-approved career school.  She serves as program director and supervising instructor.  Maggie has been involved in curriculum development and mentoring of students since 1990.  She is the owner of Med-Line School of Medical Transcription, Med-Line School of Business and Technology, in addition to ownership of 2 MTSOs – Med-Line Transcription Inc. from 1990 to 1998 and EMR OmniScribe, LLC from 2000 to present.  Maggie has been a practicing medical transcriptionist since 1985, and has been involved with AHDI for many years. 

 

Maggie went to high school in the Boston area, college in the Baltimore area, and resided for approximately 25 years in the Houston area.  She moved the transcription service to Lake Havasu City Arizona in December 2003, and made Lake Havasu City her home in 2005.  Med-Line School of Medical Transcription officially relocated to Arizona in 2010. 

 

Vocationally, she is enrolled at CalCoast University working towards a degree in business by distance education.  She is co-leader of the Advocacy Focus Group for AHDI-West, participates as an Arizona constituent in Washington DC with the Advocacy group, and is on various educational committees including the ACCP Committee for approved programs, Educators’ Alliance, and AHDI’s committee for the development of the Model Curriculum IV.

Brenda Dorsett, CMT    

Instructor, RMT Study Group Facilitator

Brenda Dorsett, CMT, received her Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from San Diego State University in 1992 working as a computer analyst and then Certificate of Competency in Medical Transcription in 1999 from Southwestern Community College.   She has been a member of AHDI since 1999 and full-time transcriptionist for over 7 years.

 

She recently became a CMT and looks forward to helping others with their endeavors through mentoring, teaching, and her own continued professional development in the transcription industry.

 

Brenda was born in Minnesota, lived in the San Diego area for over 20 years, and has taken up residency in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

 

Brenda enjoys music and has been a member of regional music groups in Lake Havasu City.  She also likes to travel, spend time with her family and dogs, and collects musical powder boxes.

Sandy Shumaker, CMT, AHDI-F

Continuing Education Instructor

Sandy Shumaker, CMT, has been involved with AHDI for 30 years, becoming a CMT in 1980.  She began her own service in Glendora, CA in 1981 and is now celebrating her 28th year in business.  Over those many years, she served on the Board of Directors for the East San Gabriel Valley Chapter for AAMT and was a founding member of that chapter.  She is presently serving as Secretary for the Orange County Chapter of AHDI.  On a regional level, she is co-leader of the Advocacy Focus Group for AHDI-West and finds this position an exciting challenge.  Sandy is also active on the national level serving on the AHDI EHR Committee, Vendor Affiliates Council and Ethics Committee.  Sandy achieved her goal of receiving her AHDI-F in 2009.

 

Sandy enjoys spending time with her family which consists of 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters, going to Dodger games, traveling with friends and reading.

 

Lisa Thompson    

Director, Technology Instructor

Lisa Thompson is a licensed representative for Med-Line School of Medical Transcription.  She  has developed Med-Line’s technology program and online workbook, COSMO.  She oversees the school’s online communications including web design, and has the role of student/instructor liaison.  She is employed as the Director of Operations for EMR OmniScribe, LLC, a medical transcription service based out of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. 

 

Lisa studied architecture and interior design at Texas A&M University and Texas State University before moving to Lake Havasu in August 2004.  After the birth of her daughter, Sandra, in February 2007, she took over as COO for EMR OmniScribe, LLC.

Anthony “Tony” Denekas

Educator’s Assistant

Tony Denekas is a resident of Lake Havasu City and has been employed by Med-Line School as an Educator’s Assistant and Administrative Assistant.  He assists in grading and student services.  Tony’s endeavor is to complete an approved coding program.  He has an interest in Anatomy and Health Sciences.
